Rosamosario Pilgrimage to the Desert
“This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life: finally, to take a step without feet”.
Gialal al-Din Rumi – Persia – 13th century
In the desert, both the sands and the skies hold manifold secrets.
We go there to dream and set our wishes and promises aloft on sweet winds. In the golden dunes, we jettison our innermost desires towards the horizons safe in the knowledge that no – one can hear us or follow our footsteps that disappear without a trace.
We visit to appreciate mystery and a vista untrammelled by human civilizations. It’s a place that exposes our weaknesses and proves our strengths; a nowhere zone in which new love can be born and the spirits refreshed.
Rosamosario, photographer David Bellemere and model, Constanze Saemann , set out on their pilgrimage to the desert as the frosts and snow descended on Europe.
Equipped with a guide, trunks of Rosomosario’s delicate confections in chiffon and Chantilly lace, SPF 50 and with imaginations fully fired, the team set about shooting this book as an homage to the region and the dignity of its women.
There was no explicit narrative just a simple desire for beauty to be set free.
But as the photographic essay shows, there is a true complicity between Rosamosario’s exquisite handmade boudoir pieces and the breathtaking locale. In Danti’s work fine gossamer silks, diaphanous chiffons, intricate laces are seamlessly combined to express sensuality. Body contouring corsets and bias cuts caress the female form. Lace, crystal and pearl embellishment and marabou feather trims are made to tantalize.
The soft silhouettes with long sweeping trains, tiny covered buttons and butterfly sleeves play a game of reveal and conceal like veils that shield both our vulnerability and show off our strength. The pieces are designed to blow in the breeze, to swish around corridors, to seduce in the most special way.
